Hu: Ahogy közelebb ért, Árpád már jobban láthatta az idegent: magas, kopaszodó férfi volt, ramatyos farmernadrágban és hawaii ingben.
En: As he got closer, Árpád could see the stranger more clearly: a tall, balding man in tattered jeans and a Hawaiian shirt.

Hu: Rövid mondatait leheletén a whisky fanyar illata kísérte.
En: The scent of whisky accompanied his short sentences on his breath.

Hu: "Segíthetek valamiben?
En: "Can I help you with something?"

Hu: " - kérdezte Árpád magyarul a férfitól, aki a mondat hallatán felkapta fejét, de értetlenül bámult rá.
En: - Árpád asked the man in Hungarian, who upon hearing the sentence raised his head but stared back blankly.

Hu: "Elnézést, nem beszélek magyarul" - mondta angolul a férfi.
En: "Sorry, I don't speak Hungarian," - the man said in English.

Hu: Árpád arcára mosoly ült, majd magyarul folytatta a beszélgetést, mert hiszen magyar volt és Budapest utcáin megfeledkezett az angol nyelvről.
En: A smile appeared on Árpád's face, and he continued the conversation in Hungarian because, after all, he was Hungarian and had forgotten about the English language wandering the streets of Budapest.

Hu: "Megmutathatom az Andrássy utcát, ha gondolja.

Hu: " - ajánlotta fel Árpád, azonban a férfi továbbra is értetlenül nézett rá, majd egy nagy sóhaj után összecsapta az útikönyvet és bólogatott.

Hu: Árpád jónak látta, ha beveti Enikőt is, aki az angol nyelv ismerőjeként sokszor mentette már meg hasonló helyzetekben.
