Story Transcript:
Fr: C’était une belle journée à Paris et tous les touristes étaient dehors en train de profiter de la ville.
En: It was a beautiful day in Paris and all the tourists were out enjoying the city.
Fr: Pierre, un touriste français, marchait dans les rues avec un croissant à la main.
En: Pierre, a French tourist, was walking the streets with a croissant in his hand.
Fr: Il essayait d’impressionner toutes les belles femmes qu’il venait de rencontrer avec son accent français.
En: He was trying to impress all the beautiful women he had just met with his French accent.
Fr: Alors qu’il marchait, il trébucha sur un croissant qui traînait sur le trottoir.
En: As he walked, he tripped over a crescent that lay on the sidewalk.
Fr: Un mignon boulanger lui tendit la main pour l’aider à se relever.
En: A cute baker held out his hand to help him up.
Fr: Pierre était embarrassé, mais il décida de faire comme s’il avait prévu de faire cela pour impressionner la boulangère.
En: Pierre was embarrassed, but he decided to act as if he planned to do this to impress the baker.
Fr: Mais elle leva les yeux au ciel et souriait d’un air amusé.
En: But she rolled her eyes and smiled amusedly.
Fr: “Il est difficile de marcher avec des croissants à la main, n’est-ce pas ?”
En: “It’s hard to walk with croissants in your hand, isn’t it?”
Fr: dit-elle en souriant.
En: she said smiling.
Fr: Pierre rougit.
En: Peter blushes.
Fr: “Je suis tellement désolé, je ne voulais pas trébucher comme un idiot”, dit-il en français.
En: “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to trip like an idiot,” he said in French.
Fr: Le boulanger sourit à nouveau.
En: The baker smiled again.
Fr: “Ne vous inquiétez pas, c’est arrivé à tout le monde à un moment donné.
En: “Don’t worry, it’s happened to everyone at some point.
Fr: Je suis le boulanger de cette pâtisserie.
En: I’m the baker at this patisserie.
Fr: Que puis-je vous servir ?”
En: What can I get you?”
Fr: Pierre était un peu nerveux, mais il voulait impressionner la boulangère avec sa connaissance des croissants.
En: Pierre was a little nervous, but he wanted to impress the baker with his knowledge of croissants.
Fr: “Je voudrais un croissant au beurre, s’il vous plaît”, dit-il.
En: “I would like a butter croissant, please,” he said.
Fr: Le boulanger sourit et tendit à Pierre un croissant frais et chaud.
En: The baker smiled and handed Pierre a fresh, warm croissant.
Fr: Pierre ferma les yeux et goûta le croissant.
En: Pierre closed his eyes and tasted the croissant.
Fr: C’était le meilleur croissant qu’il ait jamais goûté.
En: It was the best croissant he had ever tasted.
Fr: Le boulanger sourit en voyant la réaction de Pierre.
En: The baker smiled seeing Pierre’s reaction.
Fr: “J’espère que vous avez aimé votre croissant”, dit-elle.
En: “Hope you liked your croissant,” she said.
Fr: Pierre acquiesça de la tête, incapable de parler à cause du délicieux croissant dans sa bouche.
En: Pierre nodded, unable to speak because of the delicious croissant in his mouth.
Fr: Il reviendrait certainement dans cette pâtisserie la prochaine fois qu’il serait à Paris.
En: He would definitely return to this patisserie the next time he is in Paris.
