He: דוד היה ברכבו, עם המנוע ער.
En: David was in his car, with the engine on.

He: לבו דפוק, עצמותיו מתייבשות.
En: His heart pounding, his bones drying up.

He: הוא צריך לחנות.
En: He needs to park.

He: "שישי, תל אביב, בשעות העומס," הוא מנפן את הראש, "טיל נפוצים".
En: "Friday, Tel Aviv, during rush hours," he shakes his head, "missiles everywhere."

He: אפילו החניונים הלא חוקיים חשופים לעיני היום.
En: Even the illegal parking lots are exposed in the daylight.

He: דוד שם לב לרחוב מקובל על ידי גן ציבורי, הוא חשב שמא- שמא ימצא מקום ממוסחר פה שלא יתפוסו תוך כדי.
En: David notices a street bordered by a public garden, he thought maybe - just maybe he will find a commercial spot here that won't get taken in the meantime.

He: אך לא היה מזלו, החניונים ברחוב היותר ירוק באזור, כבר מלאים.
En: But luck was not on his side, the parking spaces on the greenest street in the area were already full.

He: בזמן שהחום ברחבי אותו הרכב הלוהט הולך וגובר, הסיכויים למצוא מקום שקט, מכוסה, להניח את הרכב שלו, הולכים ומתנמצעים.
En: As the heat inside that blazing car intensifies, the chances of finding a quiet, shaded spot to park his car diminish.

He: דוד הפך, התחיל להצת את הרקע שלו בחיפוש אחר חנייה.
En: David turns, starts sifting through his background in search of parking.

He: קפה ואז עבר, חנה ואז נכנסו, שמא היה מקום שנמצא בחושך - אבל כלל היה רק דיכאון.
En: He circles and then enters, tries and then leaves, perhaps there was a spot lurking in the dark - but all he found was despair.

He: "אני אחנה פה," קרא דוד בנחישות, בעודו מניח את הרכב שלו ליד חצי מסלול אופניים, "אם יהיו לי בעיות, אתמודד עם התוצאות מאוחר יותר.
En: "I'll park here," David declares with determination, as he parks his car next to a half-bike route, "if I have issues, I'll deal with the consequences later."

He: "לאחר כמה שעות ממוחשות של נסיעה וחיפוש בעיר הפתוחה, דוד שם סוף למרדף.
En: After several hours of driving and searching through the open city, David puts an end to the chase.

He: הוא הוריד את החגורה, נפתח את הדלת ויצא.
En: He unbuckles, opens the door, and steps out.

He: הוא התיישב במסעדו האהובה, אל מול מקום החנייה שלו, ושתה את הבירה החמיצה ביודעין.
En: He settles into his favorite restaurant, facing his parking spot, and sips on his bitter beer knowingly.

He: ממול למקום בו הוא התחנה, היו רחבי תל אביב מתפרצים חוזרים ונשנים בחום השישי.
En: Opposite the place where he parked, the streets of Tel Aviv burst forth and swirl in the Friday heat.

He: "אני מסיים פה," הוא אמר לעצמו, "אף פעם לא אחנה בשישי בתל אביב שוב.
En: "I'm finishing here," he tells himself, "I will never park on a Friday in Tel Aviv again."

He: "המשקפת שלו הייתה בהירה באור השמש, הלקח שלו מתמזג בתוך החימום האינסופי של תל אביב.
En: His sunglasses were bright in the sunlight, his lesson merging into the endless warmth of Tel Aviv.
